7th March ACB Monthly Meeting – The Walnut, Stowmarket

The March (Suffolk) monthly meeting will be held at The Walnut in Stowmarket.

Arrive at 12.00

FOOD UPDATE: The kitchen will be open from 1pm.

Agenda

1: It seems that many of us are choosing to meet at Osiers Cafe in St Peter and St. Marys Church in the center of Stowmarket, a short walk from the station and about halfway to the Walnut at 11am for breakfast….then heading off to arrive at the Walnut around 12.00

2: Buy beers from bar on arrival

3: Homebrew Competition Reviews…Scottish National and UK National….who won what, when where and how and can we get the recipe’s for the website.

4: BJCP Training…what is the current status of the training, how many, who, exam dates.

5: Logo’d T-shirts… obtaining/identifying a supplier of logo’d merch was something we agreed to look into at the AGM.

6: 2026 Brewery Tours…at the AGM we identified two possible candidates…Batemans and Colchester Brewery….need to kick off investigating, planning and organisation of said trips.

7: Content Creation…at the AGM we decided that we needed to get better at CC and try to drive more input…we can discuss how best to do this and maybe incentives

8: 2026 ACB Homebrew Competition…who, how big, when, where, theme.

9: A quick presentation of some real world measurements of the benefits of milling your own grain by ND.

10: A.O.B.

The event is finished.

  1. If they don’t do food I’ll aim to go to Osier cafe beforehand for a full English if anyone wants to join me.

    1. Thats a good idea…lets see how many attendees we have and then a couple of days ahead of the meeting i’ll ring the Walnut and see if theyre able to put on any food for us depending on our numbers.

If not, we can take an early train to Stowmarket and have a fry up before the meeting.

    1. No. The Abbot tasting is planned for the April meeting….hopefully we will have a decent number of examples to taste in April…rather than tasting them in dribs and drabs across several meetings. Obviously, there is nothing to stop someone bringing their Abbot clone if they cannot attend the scheduled meeting in April, or cannot get their beer to the meeting, but the idea of limiting the tasting to one meeting (as much as possible) is to taste as many examples side by side as possible.
